David Thelwell Specialist Decorators provides specialist new water & oil gilding, including gold leaf. This can either be carried out on site or in our workshop.

Graining
Graining is the art of simulating wood, using paint. All varieties of wood can be represented, and applied to any surface that can be painted. By combining graining with trompe l'oeil techniques, we can create effects such as faux panelled rooms. This technique was used by the ancient Egyptians, and was also used extensively in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.

Marbling is the realistic simulation of marble and stone using paint. It can be applied to any surface that can be painted, but is best used where real marble might be used. Marble conveys opulence, elegance and style whilst also giving weight, solidity and formality.
